Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque is not looking forward to facing Italy again. “Our recent defeat against them weighs on us.”
The two teams have been drawn together in Euro 2012 Group C along with the Republic of Ireland and Croatia.
They met on August 10 in a friendly at Bari’s Stadio San Nicola, in which Italy emerged the 2-1 winners.
“At this level, all teams are strong and it is a complicated group,” Del Bosque told Rai Sport.
“The most important thing for us is to be prepared for the start of the tournament.
“The most recent precedent, a defeat to Italy, does weigh on us, but the other opponents are not to be underestimated either.
“We want to win the second consecutive European Championship after winning back-to-back Euro and World Cup trophies. Spain want to achieve what nobody has ever done before.”
