Massimiliano Allegri reassures Robinho after another incredible miss and enjoys Milan’s Serie A leadership status.
“We are top for a couple of days, then if Juventus overtake us, we’ll just have to accept it. The important thing was to win in a difficult arena,” said the Coach.
Their 2-0 victory away to Genoa came thanks to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty and Antonio Nocerino tap-in, but Robinho wasted the chance to finish the game when ballooning over from a yard.
“After going 1-0 up we played well for a few minutes, then gifted Genoa a penalty and were terrorised for five minutes. The second goal was what we needed to definitively secure the result.
“Robinho contributed to the goal with a great move. I compliment him for his assist in the penalty incident. As for the miss, football is like that, at times you miss incredible chances and at others you score out of nowhere. It happens.”
The Rossoneri have charged back into the Scudetto race following a poor start and kept a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
“We are playing decidedly well, but still need to improve in the way we control games,” added Allegri.
