Delio Rossi has to wield the whip after a week of controversy. “I want Fiorentina to be concentrated and clear-headed against Roma.”
The Viola fined Alessio Cerci and Andrea Lazzari when they were spotted clubbing at 3am after a Coppa Italia game, then Cerci turned up a day late from his trip to Spain and picked up an injury in a friendly.
“I never wanted to talk about these aspects, as I prefer to focus on what happens on the pitch,” said the Coach.
“My rules are clear. You can make a mistake once due to negligence, but not twice. You cannot go off the mark, damaging your own professional status or that of Fiorentina. The players know this and nobody can afford to break the rules.”
Rossi is still looking for his first Serie A victory since replacing Sinisa Mihajlovic and on Sunday welcomes Roma.
“We are facing a side with great quality that often changes line-up, because that is in Luis Enrique’s Barcelona mentality. I just want Fiorentina to be concentrated and clear-headed, because our position in the table can weigh on us.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy situation. Going back, would I say yes to Fiorentina again? Of course, I think this club has great potential.
“The lads are working hard and everyone tries to give their best. All I can promise the fans is that we’ll try our hardest. I’m not a carpet salesman, so I cannot make promises on results. I hope they’ll be close to us tomorrow.”
