Aurelio De Laurentiis reveals he was “soaked” during a dramatic Champions League night for Napoli.
The President was in Spain for the 2-0 victory over Villarreal that saw them reach the last 16, sending Manchester City to the Europa League.
“I was always happy with this group, right from the day of the draw. I immediately thought of how much my team would grow, as you only mature after facing the biggest teams,” said De Laurentiis.
Napoli would’ve been out at half-time, as Manchester City beat Bayern Munich 2-0, but they eventually broke the deadlock.
“I was a little upset at the break, as these are games where the tiniest error can give away a goal. In the second half we came out fighting and were superior.
“I thank these lads for the great performance they gave, but above all for honouring the colours of this city and our fans to the very last second.
“They soaked me in the locker room, as they’re having such a party down there. I risked a hernia!”
