Alberto Malesani saved his job with today’s win at Siena, but warned Genoa “we need to make changes in January.”
There were rumours the Coach was set for the axe if he failed to win in Tuscany, so the hard fought 2-0 victory was crucial.
“We made mistakes in building the forward momentum, but we certainly got it right when it came to finishing,” smiled Malesani.
“The club needs to step in and make changes in January on the transfer market to fix those issues we have already discussed. We will make some signings that can help us out.
“Right now we have difficulties with injury problems, for example Emiliano Moretti who was running a temperature and Ze Eduardo who hasn’t really played for five months. It’s only natural that when there are many changes, things can not settle down for a while.”
Genoa are back on the field on Tuesday evening for their Serie A match with Inter, which was postponed in early November due to flooding.
“In researching this game, I watched the tape of Siena’s performance against Inter. I will not watch their match against Fiorentina tonight, though, as I want to rest.”
