Stefano Pioli revealed what under-fire referee Gianluca Rocchi told him after the controversial Bologna-Milan game.
The official made numerous dubious decisions during the 2-2 draw , including penalty appeals from both sides.
“I’d rather not talk about the referee, as it’s fairer to discuss a very entertaining game,” said Coach Pioli.
“We said goodbye at the end of the game in a very cordial fashion. He told me that, even if he might’ve made some mistakes, he took the decisions that he considered to be right.
“It’s not easy being a referee, as they have negative and positive days too.”
It was a spectacular performance by the Rossoblu, who put Milan under constant pressure just days after they pushed Juventus to extra time in the Coppa Italia.
“It was a wonderful game. Milan are superior in technique and strength, but we held the field well without being passive. We went on the counter with a certain consistency and timing.
“We made life difficult for the Rossoneri and I have to praise my players for that. As for Marco Di Vaio, he just needed to break his drought, as not scoring for 10 or 11 games is tough for a striker who has netted 200 in his career.
“There was a little pressure on him, especially as he is the captain, but he always trained very hard and kept in shape.”
