Milan are facing a shortage of defenders this weekend as both Luca Antonini and Ignazio Abate are ruled out of the Siena match.
Already without Alessandro Nesta and Mario Yepes until the new year thanks to respective thigh strain and ankle injuries, the club have confirmed that they will welcome Siena to San Siro on Saturday night without first-choice full-backs Antonini and Abate. Christian Abbiati is also still unavailable in goal.
In announcing the squad of 19 that will prepare for tomorrow’s match, the Rossoneri declared that Antonini is out through back pain and that Abate suffered a sprained ankle in training.
It could see unsettled Nigerian Taye Taiwo and League novice Mattia De Sciglio deputise on the flanks, with Daniele Bonera alongside Thiago Silva in the centre of defence. Alternatively, Bonera could play at right-back with centre-back Philippe Mexes pushed back into the first team, but perhaps ahead of the club’s intended schedule.
Squad to face Siena: Amelia, Roma, Bonera, De Sciglio, Ely, Mexes, Taiwo, Thiago Silva, Ambrosini, Aquilani, Kevin Prince Boateng, Emanuelson, Nocerino, Seedorf, Van Bommel, El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic, Pato, Robinho
