Serie A strugglers Novara have pulled out of the race to sign Giuseppe Mascara on loan in January from Napoli.
The 32-year-old is being linked with a San Paolo exit next month after appearing in just 253 minutes of Serie A action so far this term.
Novara have been one of the sides associated, but the former Catania man is apparently not wanted in Piedmont.
“He is an extraordinary player, but he isn’t at the top of our thoughts right now,” sporting director Mauro Pederzoli told Radio CRC.
“He doesn’t have the characteristics that we are looking for. What we really need at the moment is a central striker.”
