Milan will ask Genoa to hand them back midfielder Alexander Merkel for the rest of the season, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Presently, boss Massimiliano Allegri is without Mathieu Flamini for the next two months, while Alberto Aquilani and Gennaro Gattuso will be sidelined for the next four weeks.
According to the report, the Marassi outfit have already agreed to hand over the youngster who has made six top-flight appearances for the Diavolo.
The German Under-20 international has impressed in his 13 League appearances for Genoa so far this term.
