Delio Rossi confirms new Fiorentina signing Amauri will play in Sunday’s Tuscan derby against Siena, but Alessio Cerci is dropped again.
Amauri arrived this week on loan from Juventus and could possibly be thrown straight into the starting XI.
“He is a very important player and I have to make the most of his motivation, even though he has not played for over six months,” said the Coach in his press conference.
“I have to see if it’s better to substitute him during the 90 minutes or let him come off the bench. I do think he will play, though.”
The same cannot be said of Cerci, who now seems frozen out of the Viola squad, so his January sale to Genoa or Torino is increasingly likely.
Stevan Jovetic returns to the side after he missed out on last week’s 0-0 draw at Cagliari due to an injury.
It has been a turbulent few weeks and the Della Valle family bitterly criticised the fan protests that have accompanied recent poor results.
“Fiorentina are in a transition period and trying to resolve the issues,” continued Rossi.
“The Della Valle family does not want to shake off its responsibilities to the club. If one day they do go, as some are saying, then I ask who would be ready to take Fiorentina in hand? These owners want to invest in the side.”
Fiorentina squad:Acosty, Amauri, Behrami, Boruc, Camporese, Cassani, De Silvestri, Gamberini, Jovetic, Lazzari, Ljajic, Montolivo, Nastasic, Natali, Neto, Pasqual, Romulo, Vargas
