Rumours in Italy suggest Napoli are thinking about launching an ambitious bid for Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu.
The 31-year-old's relationship with Fiorentina's owners is apparently frayed following his nine-month doping ban.
However, Mutu has been an ever present in the Fiorentina side since his suspension ended, making six starting appearances under Sinisa Mihajlovic who is unlikely to sanction his departure.
Various reports claim Napoli are willing to offer Fabiano Santacroce in exchange for Mutu plus a lump sum.
It's no secret that Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino rates Santacroce who has long been held up as one of Italy's brightest defensive talents.
Fiorentina will need a centre-back if they sell Felipe to Zenit St. Petersburg in January, as reported in the Italian media.
