Keisuke Honda has admitted that he hoped in a switch to Lazio right up until the January transfer window closed.
The Italian club targeted the CSKA Moscow player last month, but no agreement could be reached with the Russian outfit.
“I was hoping for a better future,” the midfielder told the Japanese media. “I hoped right until the very end that I could move to the Italian championship.
“My objectives haven’t changed though and I don’t intend to change them.
“For now all that I am thinking about is CSKA Moscow, but my contract is running down and I’m honoured that my name is being linked with other clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.”
Honda, 25, joined CSKA in January 2010 and has also been linked with the likes of Milan and Juventus in the past.
