Palermo have conceded that Fabrizio Miccoli is playing himself towards a new contract at the Stadio Barbera.
“How can I deprive myself of Miccoli in this form? I’m ready to extend his agreement,” President Maurizio Zamparini told La Repubblica.
“Miccoli is now at 100 per cent and he’s training like a true professional. He is an example for the rest of the squad.
“He was primarily the captain because of his age, now he is the captain because he is the soul of the changing room.
“He’s working hard to prolong his career and I’m very happy with what he is doing.”
The 32-year-old forward has scored four goals in his last two League games against Inter and Atalanta.
Miccoli, scorer of 10 goals in 18 games this term, is tied to the Sicilian giants until the summer of 2013.
He joined the Stadio Barbera outfit in 2007 after a spell at Benfica in Portugal.
