Christian Abbiati cannot disguise his satisfaction at pulling off a great save against Robin van Persie. “It was like a weight off my shoulders.”
The goalkeeper was crucial in the 4-0 Champions League victory over Arsenal on Wednesday evening, performing a spectacular reaction save on van Persie.
“I celebrated like crazy after that save, because it was like a weight off my shoulders,” Abbiati told Milan Channel.
“I was coming off an unlucky period full of injury problems. Making a save like that really fired me up.”
Now the Rossoneri hope to take that enthusiasm through to Sunday’s trip to Cesena.
“It won’t be easy, as Cesena are a good side who really strengthened over the January transfer window. Their artificial turf could cause some problems, but in any case we have to play the same way we did against Arsenal, by attacking them from the first minute.
“As for next week’s game with Juventus, we won’t think about that for now. One step at a time and from Monday we’ll concentrate on the next test.”
