Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia has suffered another blow to his injury-hit season after picking up a fresh fitness problem in training.
The Italian international, 24, has damaged his right thigh which means he is set to be out of action for the next four or five weeks.
The former Bari defender has played just eight League games this season, in which he has scored one goal.
Ranocchia, an Italian international, joined the Beneamata in January 2011 from Genoa. He made 18 top-flight appearances for the Nerazzurri last term.
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli could now call-up Palermo defender Matias Silvestre for next week’s friendly against America, given that Ranocchia was expected to be named in the squad on Sunday.
