Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has explained why he opted to call up Roma youngster Fabio Borini to the Giro Azzurro.
The Italian Under-21 international was promoted to the full squad on Sunday and could make his debut against America on Wednesday.
“I was left very impressed by his determination and generosity on the field of play,” the former Fiorentina boss told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“His performances have been quite consistent too.”
The forward, seven goals in 15 Serie A games this term, joined the Giallorossi in the summer just months after his Bosman move from Chelsea to Parma.
“I’ve been following him for some time,” Prandelli added. “I predict a great future for him.”
