Mimmo Criscito is happy to be back in Genoa after he was called up for Italy’s international friendly against USA.
“It’s always a nice feeling to return to the city,” the Zenit St Petersburg full-back told Primocanale Sport. “Genoa and their fans have remained in my heart.”
The 25-year-old moved to Russia from Genoa in the summer of 2011 for €11m.
Prior to that move, the left-back had regularly swapped Genoa for Juventus and vice-versa since he was signed by the Rossoblu as a kid in 2002.
Criscito remains a fan of the Marassi outfit and he’s been impressed by the club’s January capture of Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino.
“That was a great buy,” the 2010 World Cup player noted. “You can see that the side have missed him over the past few weeks.
“If he returns from injury this weekend then he will certainly give his contribution to the team against Lecce.”
