Julio Cesar has given his blessing to fellow Brazilian Leonardo. “He is the right man for Inter and also my friend.”
On Christmas Eve the club confirmed it had appointed Leo as the new Coach, replacing Rafa Benitez.
“He will be great,” Julio Cesar told Globo Esporte. “He is the right man for Inter and he is also my friend.
“It is very important that he already knows Italian football very well. I think this is going to work.”
Leonardo spent 13 years at rivals Milan as player, talent scout, director and Coach before making the surprise switch across San Siro.
He inherits a side that in 2010 won the Champions League, Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup and Club World Cup.
“Now I just need the World Cup with Brazil to complete the set and hope to achieve it as the host nation in 2014,” added goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
