Italy Under-21 boss Ciro Ferrara was delighted with his side’s performance in the 1-1 draw with France on Tuesday.
The Azzurrini had to come from a goal down to rescue a point thanks to an Alberto Paloschi strike, but the tactician was more than satisfied.
“The display was excellent,” the former Juventus Coach stated. “As I said to the players in the changing room, we didn’t deserve to be a goal down.
“Everyone did really well and I want to thank these boys for putting their soul into the game tonight,” he added at the end of the friendly.
“These players have been working together for a year now and they are taking us towards some great results.
“It wasn’t easy to come to France and create so many chances. They caused us some problems, but by changing a few things at the break we were able to get a result.”
Milan youngster Stephan El Shaarawy made an appearance after he was a late replacement for Fabio Borini, the striker who was promoted to Cesare Prandelli’s full squad.
“I have so many players who offer me different solutions and El Shaarawy is one of them,” the former defender concluded.
