Esteban Cambiasso has a key role to play at Inter in the future despite being brought to tears by jeering fans.
The Argentine struggled to hold back his emotions at San Siro on Sunday as he was whistled by disgruntled supporters while being replaced in the 2-2 draw with Catania.
“Cambiasso has given a lot to the Nerazzurri cause,” agent Peppino Tirri told TMW on Monday afternoon.
“He’s very tied to the club and that was proved by his tears following his substitution last night.
“Those jeers were of anger, which had everything to do with the horrible moment of form that the side is going through.
“Everyone is paying for that, especially the senators of the side.
“However, Esteban will be a reference point to Inter over the next few years. His age will start to be felt, but there is nobody better around than Esteban right now.”
The Argentine, 31, joined the San Siro giants in 2004 on a free transfer from Real Madrid.
Inter have collected just two points from the last 21 on offer in Serie A.
