Antonio Cassano is overweight and needs to cut down if he is to hold down a regular place in the first team at Milan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 28-year-old flew with the team to Dubai yesterday for a winter training camp after agreeing to leave Sampdoria following a dispute with the club's owner.
Cassano hasn't played for two months and he is seriously lacking match fitness.
La Gazzetta understands the Italy international is 2.5kg overweight and will undergo a specialist training regime over the next month.
The player has brought in his trusted fitness coach Agostino Tibaudi to help speed up the process.
Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri will attempt to get Cassano fit again by playing him in at the first opportunity.
He will apparently get 30 minutes in a friendly against Al-Ahli on January 2.
