Catania boss Vincenzo Montella is good enough to be handed tactical control of an Italian giant, says director Pietro Lo Monaco.
The 37-year-old has impressed with the Sicilian club this season after his brief spell in charge of Roma last term.
“Montella has the qualities to coach a big club,” Lo Monaco told journalists on Thursday afternoon.
“However, he would stay here with us at Catania even if clubs went to him on their knees dripping with blood…”
Catania are currently eighth in Serie A, having lost just one of their last seven in the Italian top flight.
Montella, a former striker with Sampdoria and Roma, only ended his playing career in the summer of 2009.
