Juventus boss Antonio Conte’s decisions about which attackers to use have been questioned by a former teammate.
The tactician has tried various solutions up front in his 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 systems, but only Alessandro Matri is delivering goals thanks to his 10 in 23 League games.
“I’m following Conte and I like him, but I don’t understand a few things,” ex-Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi told Radio Mana Mana.
“Why does he not completely trust Matri and why does he never give Alex Del Piero a go?
“Mirko Vucinic and Marco Borriello are doing little, so why isn’t Del Piero given a chance? I don’t get it.
“I get the feeling that Conte doesn’t see Del Piero in his 4-3-3. It’s a real shame to see Alex on the bench.”
Juve netted Roma striker Borriello on loan in January, but the ex-Milan man has struggled to make an impact with no goals in five League appearances.
“He’s a good player, but you need world class players up front,” Tacchinardi continued. “If Juve thought he was going to be a player to change things then they made a mistake.
“His performances are a result of how the team is playing.”
Unbeaten Juve are two points behind leaders Milan after drawing five of their last six matches in Serie A.
