Alessandro Diamanti is looking forward to facing Lazio this weekend, as he claims he is a fans’ favourite, despite never having played for the team.
The playmaker was critical of Roma’s Francesco Totti in late January, suggesting that his status as the Giallorossi’s flag bearer was overrated with consideration to the money he is paid by the club.
Where the player was subsequently whistled during the Felsinei’s game away to Roma, the 28-year-old is expecting a warm reception from their city rivals Lazio this weekend.
“[Cristian] Brocchi told me that I am one of the club’s idols, even without having ever played for Lazio,” he confidently declared on Friday.
Diamanti has scored three goals and assisted a further three for Bologna this season, from 19 appearances.
