As expected, Cagliari have now officially recalled Massimo Ficcadenti after sacking Davide Ballardini.
The Sardinians wielded the axe after Friday’s 6-3 defeat to Napoli, also removing his management staff.
Ballardini had only been brought in last November to replace Ficcadenti, but the two have now changed places again.
There was some confusion this evening, as at first Cagliari announced Ballardini’s dismissal, then another statement appeared insisting a meeting was “still in progress.”
It has now been confirmed that Ficcadenti has returned to the Cagliari bench with his staff.
It is technically the third change of management, as Roberto Donadoni was fired in August to make way for Ficcadenti.
