Roma have revealed they are in talks with Philippe Mexes with regard to extending his contract at the club.
The France international's existing deal runs out at the end of the season and his performances in the current campaign have generated strong interest across Europe, especially from Serie A leaders Milan.
Interviewed last night, Roma President Rosella Sensi said: "We are negotiating a renewal.
"Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is a friend, but we have never spoken about Mexes.
"He is a player who I care a lot about. We are talking to arrive at a renewal.
"I have not said that we have renewed [his contract], but we are continuing to talk.
"I am tired of reading false stories about Roma."
Sensi also denied claims Roma intend to sell David Pizarro to Genoa.
"He is a Roma player and he remains as such."
