Cristian Chivu has confirmed that he has begun negotiations with Inter about his contract situation at San Siro.
The stopper is only committed to the Nerazzurri until June 2012 and it is unclear whether he will renew or leave the club on a Bosman.
“We’ve spoken about a renewal,” the former Roma and Ajax man noted. “But I’m not the only player whom the club are speaking to.
“There are another three of my teammates who are in the same position as I am. We’ll just have to be patient.
“I’m open to negotiating a renewal, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
The Romanian international, 31, has only played in 17 games for Inter so far this term across all competitions.
