Roma had an upset in preparation for the match with Catania, losing 3-2 to Lega Pro side Atletico Roma.
The friendly test was played at the Stadio Flaminio in Rome this afternoon and Claudio Ranieri experimented with a new system.
Jeremy Menez, Mirko Vucinic and Leandro Greco fanned out behind lone centre-forward Francesco Totti.
Atletico took the lead after just four minutes when Doudou met a Caputo free kick, while Menez rattled the woodwork before Vucinic equalised at the 38th minute with a wonderful rising effort into the far top corner.
The Giallorossi completely changed their line-up for the second half, but Chiaretti restored Atletico's advantage.
Marco Borriello wasted the chance to draw level again when his penalty was saved. Nicolas Andre Burdisso made it 2-2 in the final minutes, but deep into stoppages Chiaretti completed his brace to win it for the Third Division outfit.
