Fiorentina “are not in crisis, but the team is not united in the right way,” warned Delio Rossi ahead of the relegation battle with Chievo.
“In every team unity is important. I’ve had in my career players who did not get along, but they helped each other on the field,” said Rossi.
“Here the group is in place, but at times the team is not united in the right way. Our pre-match training camp helped to forge greater cohesion, as I believe a united locker room can give you an extra three or four points per season.
“This is not the time to be looking for scapegoats. We have another five games at home and four away, so we can achieve our objective even just by playing at the Stadio Franchi. We need the fans to stay with us, as their real strength has to emerge now.”
Amauri is still looking for his first goal since joining from Juventus in January, but the Coach reassures his striker.
“Some seasons go this way, but he mustn’t make a nightmare out of it. He should think about how much he is helping the team. Tomorrow we’ll face a Chievo side that is fairly relaxed, so they will come here to pick up points.”
Rossi was drafted in to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic, but has so far failed to revive the Fiorentina fortunes.
“I am not a caretaker. I have a contract for next season too and therefore I am focused only on the present, for which tomorrow’s game will be crucial.”
The tactician also had a special message for Franco Mancini , the former goalkeeper who died of a heart attack on Friday, aged 43.
“I knew him very well, as he was a goalkeeper in my team. It’s a shocking tragedy and we are all close to his family. When faced with some situations, every word is superfluous.”
