Francesco Guidolin believes the race for third place is still between as many as five different teams, including his Udinese.
The Zebrette currently sit in fifth spot, having recently dropped a couple of places after results took a downturn.
However, they remain just three points behind Lazio, who hold the final Champions League spot at the moment, but as Guidolin remarks, competition for the place is between more than just these two clubs.
“The race for third place is wide open, I agree,” the Coach expressed to the assembled media on Tuesday.
“Teams like Lazio, Napoli, Inter and Roma are all contending for what is important and was an early season objective for them all.
“Unfortunately for them, first and second place are already decided and with them all [fighting for third] is Udinese, for which I am proud.”
The tactician also passed comment on another surprise club pushing for European qualification, Catania.
“They have focused only on the League, are in great health, have enthusiasm - it is not easy to play against Catania. Now they are also always sold out and their public pushes the team even more.”
Cesare Prandelli was a surprise visitor to the Udine club’s training facilities and he met with Guidolin.
“I will not say what was talked about in the short conversation I had with Prandelli. The things we discussed will remain confidential.”
