Manuel Rui Costa has dismissed the possibility that he could return to Fiorentina as the club’s new sporting director.
The Portuguese legend is currently a director at Benfica, but there are suggestions that he could replace the departing Pantaleo Corvino in Florence.
“I continue to passionately follow the Italian championship, especially Fiorentina and Milan – two teams in my heart,” stated the 40-year-old.
“However, at this moment in time, a return to Italy is practically impossible for me. It’s my intention to stay at Benfica.”
The ex-playmaker joined the Viola in 1994 and remained in Tuscany until his 2001 switch to San Siro. He returned to Benfica as a player five years later.
