Edy Reja is anticipating a competitive game between Lazio and Napoli this weekend, despite the number of injuries to both sides.
The Aquile play host to Week 31’s clash between the Roman side, who currently hold third place in the table, and Napoli, who sit one place and three points below.
The weekend’s encounter is being billed as a deciding fixture in the race for the final Champions League qualification position in the League.
“Considering the table and the value of the two teams, this game has a particular appeal,” admitted former Vesuviani Coach Reja.
“It is not decisive, but it will be of paramount importance.
“We have recently not endured an easy time. In recent weeks we have played in some games in terrible shape and we had made too many mistakes.
“I hope that this period ended last week at Parma and now we can deal with having to face this game in the best possible way, with conviction and determination.”
Both teams go into the fixture with significant injury lists to contend with.
“They too have significant absences such as [Christian] Maggio, [Juan] Zuniga and [Andrea] Dossena, but it will not be decisive. I expect a Napoli with character who want to fight for the Champions League.”
Reja also took time to deny the belief that he would be without star striker Miroslav Klose for the rest of the season, even as the German international suggested as much in midweek.
“You can close this case - his words were manipulated, to get into shape for the European Championships it is necessary to also have a good month of performance too.
“He is currently working in Italy and Germany and is working 100 per cent to get back as soon as possible, because he wants to help Lazio out. I think he’ll be back for Udinese [on April 29] or immediately after that.”
