Atalanta’s midweek celebrations for beating Napoli were soured slightly after thieves vandalised and broke into several cars owned by squad members.
Welcomed home by supporters in the middle of Wednesday night after flying back from Naples, where they had despatched the Vesuviani 3-1, the Nerazzurro squad stayed the night at a hotel next to the airport, as scheduled.
Overnight, however, a number of cars belonging to players and staff at the club - including those of Coach Stefano Colantuono and winger Giacomo Bonaventura, who had played a pivotal role in beating Napoli - had been broken into. Belongings had been snatched from the vehicles parked outside the hotel, whilst thieves had also smashed several of the cars’ windows and doors.
