Napoli are keen to reward Edinson Cavani for his form this season by touching up his contract with the club.
The 23-year-old has already found the net 15 times since his arrival from Palermo in the summer.
Cavani had put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth €1.8m a season, but Napoli feel they need to improve the terms of that arrangement amid interest from Manchester City, Juventus and Inter.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to offer the Uruguay international a one-year extension on his current deal with a buy-out clause worth €35m.
Napoli hope to have an agreement by the end of January in recognition of the player doubling in value.
