Dave Taylor picks the star men following the latest round of games in Serie A.
Bogdan Lobont [Roma]
Showed his class after the break and was absolutely stupendous as Napoli fired in shots from all quarters. Really could not be blamed for either goal, but did stop almost two certain strikes from Edinson Cavani and Gokhan Inler. Dependable.
Nicola Legrottaglie [Catania]
Thoroughly deserved his goal and never put a foot wrong. At 36 the former Juve defender shows no sign of his age. Always well-placed and made a couple of crucial blocks, especially one on Fabrizio Miccoli. Decisive.
Maurizio Domizzi [Udinese]
The 30-year-old has been one of Italy’s most consistent defenders this season. Not only did he put in the strongest of defensive shifts, it was his pin-point cross that set up the opener. Integral
Andrea Barzagli [Juventus]
You can only contain what is in front of you and the six-footer, who is playing some of his best ever football, never gave the Novara forwards the slightest of look ins. Commanding.
Emmanuele Giaccherini [Juventus]
Never stopped running and showed no mercy. It was his precise pass that set up Marco Borriello’s header. He also had a massive hand in the final goal, while almost scoring himself. Impressive.
Andrea Pirlo [Juventus]
Does he ever have a bad game? Was absolutely everywhere, set up two goals and consistently gave others several chances to score. It was his sensational free-kick that set up the opener.Imperious.
Sebastian Giovinco [Parma]
As usual unlocked the defensive doors such as they were of Lecce’s. Scored from a beautifully taken free-kick from all of 25 yards that curved in over the wall and flew past an astonished Benassi. Authorative.
Kevin Prince-Boateng [Milan]
The midfielder was again full of energy, bossing the middle and generally closing up any gaps. Had a great shot that nearly broke the crossbar and was forever causing trouble and never allowed Siena a moment’s respite. Crucial.
Mirko Vucinic [Juventus]
Led the line magnificently and started the rout with his excellent first goal. Kept menacing and was in the right place to tap in his second. Magnificent.
Antonio Cassano [Milan]
The returning hero scored the opener and made the assists for both of Ibra’s goals. Accurate and precise all match. Absolutely unstoppable, he ran the opposition ragged all game.Dominating.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic [Milan]
Worked excellently with the returning Cassano and played a massive part in his opening goal. After that it was all Ibra, as the Swede scored a supersonic second, while netting the fourth goal with the game’s last kick.Imposing.
