Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly turned down an invite to join Real Madrid. “I’m happy at Milan.”
Reports in Italy on Tuesday are suggesting that Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, his former tactician at Inter, asked the forward about a possible move in a text message.
The Serie A top scorer, who has also played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter and Barcelona, is understood to have rejected such an idea.
“A new challenge would be great,” the Swede is quoted as saying in Afton Bladet. “But I’ve faced so many in my career and I have now learnt one thing – if you’re happy at a club then you should stay.
“I want to remain here. I’m happy at Milan, I could not ask for anything more and everyone treats me in the best possible manner.
“I won’t run away because I don’t need to. I want to stay at Milan.”
The 30-year-old, who joined the Diavolo in 2010, has struck 26 League goals – which include nine penalties – in 29 games so far this term.
“I’m like a good wine, I get better with age,” the international continued. “And I’m already thinking about next season with Milan.”
