Lecce “want our dream to come true” and stay in Serie A as Serse Cosmi leads out his troops against Fiorentina on Saturday.
The Salentini kept their hopes alive with a surprise 1-1 draw at leaders Juventus on Wednesday night, though they are now three points behind Genoa in the safety zone.
“Our result will not influence the game in Udine,” said the Coach, referring to Lecce’s ignored request for their match to be played simultaneously with Udinese-Genoa.
“We are not more fired up because of this situation and I don’t want to use it like that. Lecce’s attitude has to be the same, no matter what day or time it is played.”
Cosmi was naturally asked about the chaotic events that shook up Fiorentina on Wednesday, as Coach Delio Rossi was sacked after physically attacking Adem Ljajic in a dugout brawl, promoting team director Vincenzo Guerini as interim boss.
“I don’t know if that is an advantage for us, because when faced with such situations you can have different reactions. In any case, I am not interested.
“Fiorentina are one of the teams who could’ve faced the last two months of the season in a very different way. When a side is pulled back into the relegation battle without expecting it, there can be some unusual reactions.
“Of course our draw with Juventus gives us strength, because a team is fed by results and the one in Turin was certainly important.
“In the last two rounds we are gambling with our safety and want our dream to come true.”
Luis Muriel, Juan Cuadrado and Moris Carrozzieri are all suspended, while Massimo Oddo and Julio Sergio are still on the treatment table.
