Lazio are hoping to bolster their veteran strike force by snapping up Dimitar Berbatov on the cheap from Manchester United.
The Biancocelesti have revitalised the career of Miroslav Klose and seek to do the same by convincing the Bulgarian international to choose them.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, there was a meeting between Lazio emissaries and agent Emil Dantchev, who are prepared to satisfy the player’s requests.
Aged 31, Berbatov still has one year left to run on his Manchester United contract, but is not expected to stay at Old Trafford for the duration.
Therefore Lazio might be able to clinch a sale for just €5m.
Another option for Claudio Lotito’s team is Giampaolo Pazzini, who could be handed to Lazio in exchange for Mauro Zarate, currently on loan at Inter.
