Napoli director of sport Riccardo Bigon says he has inquired about the prospect of signing Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler.
The Switzerland international is a long-term transfer target of Napoli's and it's thought they will make a bid over the course of this month.
Speaking to Radio Marte, Bigon said: "I have read about it in the newspapers. I can say that there has been a chat on Udinese's part to sound out our interest, but this doesn't mean that the deal has already been done.
"Udinese wanted to understand Napoli's intentions. If one party comes to propose an idea, both parties must then find an agreement.
"It's not a deal that's in an advanced stage. There is a good rapport between Napoli and Udinese. If the flowers blossom, we'll see what happens."
