Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has given his backing to the club's decision to sign Luca Toni from Genoa.
Toni arrives on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a contract until June 2012.
He is being formally unveiled at Juventus' training ground this afternoon after reportedly passing a medical.
Juventus had been wondering whether to sign a striker in January only for Fabio Quagliarella's season-ending injury to make that need imperative.
Asked for his reaction to Toni's move, Buffon said: "I believe that the career he has had and will continue to have speaks volumes for him.
"If he came here it's because he wants to put himself in discussion and give a hand to the cause.
"He can be useful to us above all after these injuries," Buffon concluded.
