Sebastien Frey is celebrating Serie A survival with Genoa after suggesting that they were too good to go down.
“We did it,” stated the goalkeeper. “I’m very happy because despite our struggles this season, we have justifiably remained in the top flight.”
Genoa, who made three coaching changes this term, made sure of their place in the First Division on Sunday night.
Their 2-0 win against Palermo and Lecce’s 1-0 loss at Chievo Verona was enough to see the Grifone finish six points above the relegated Salentini.
Frey joined the Marassi outfit last summer from Fiorentina.
