Juventus idol Alessandro Del Piero has been likened to Formula One legends Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher.
The 37-year-old club captain will leave the Turin giants this summer after 19 years with his beloved Old Lady.
“Del Piero can’t be replaced,” stated Ferrari President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo to Sky Sport Italia. “He has represented a modern piece of history for Juventus.
“I can compare him to what Lauda and Schumacher, two great drivers, represent for us at Ferrari.
“All of us though, at some point, have to finish our careers…”
Montezemolo has links with Juventus after acting as the executive Vice-President for the Bianconeri at the start of the 1990s.
Schumacher won five Formula One world titles with the Maranello outfit, while Lauda won two of his three championships while with the Prancing Horse.
