Siena Coach Giuseppe Sannino has advised Juventus or Inter to snap up Mattia Destro. “He has qualities outside the norm.”
The 21-year-old hitman had a splendid campaign at Siena under Sannino, who is set to leave the club to take over at Palermo. [12]
“I realise I’m probably biased when it comes to Mattia, even if it’s beyond doubt he had a great season,” Sannino told TuttoJuve.
“He can improve a great deal and has already proved that he has qualities outside the norm. In one year he has made it into the Nazionale and absolutely deserved his place. Now I hope he can go to Euro 2012 as well.”
Destro is co-owned by Genoa and Siena, but has been linked with Inter, Juventus, Napoli and Roma among others. [13]
“Mattia deserves all the recognition and compliments, because he has talent and can get even better. I confess it fills me with pride to see him wearing the Azzurri shirt.
“We are talking about a really mature and humble lad who works very hard in training. I hope he can go as far as possible in his career.
“He is a modern striker, able to find space in tight defences and also to run into space. He is not your classic static centre-forward in the box. Because of these characteristics he becomes precious for his teammates and difficult to mark for opponents.
“Destro has everything it takes to be a great champion.”
