Italy’s medical staff have confirmed Gianluigi Buffon has suffered a strained shoulder, “but it is nothing serious.”
The goalkeeper was substituted at half-time, when it was still 0-0, in tonight’s 3-0 friendly defeat to Russia.
“Gigi performed a save and pulled his right shoulder,” Professor Enrico Castellacci told RAI Sport.
“It’s nothing serious, but a little strain on the tendons of the shoulder did happen. As a precaution, rightly the Coach replaced him.
“It is absolutely nothing to worry about and won’t be a problem to recover for the next game. He will undergo physiotherapy and treatment, then will train regularly.”
Italy open their Euro 2012 account against Spain on June 10.
