Director Igli Tare claims new Coach Vladimir Petkovic is “a courageous choice” that can allow Lazio to further improve.
The Biancocelesti presented their new tactician to the media today after he signed a two-year contract, replacing Edy Reja.
“I realise the name Petkovic may be new to many and so there is a great deal of curiosity around him,” said director of sport Tare.
“This was a courageous choice, but one based on facts. I have known him for two years and was impressed by his football, while he is also a great person.
“We have not made big changes in the rest of the staff, as we think Reja’s collaborators produced great results.
“We are convinced that with Petkovic we will continue to grow just as we have done in recent years, as we want to improve both domestically and in Europe.”
Petkovic helped save Swiss side Sion from relegation when taking over in the final weeks of the season and is known for his attacking style of play.
