Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has answered transfer questions regarding Mattia Destro, Marco Verratti, Alberto Gilardino and more.
The Grifone have recently become one of the most active sides in the market and another busy summer is on the horizon.
One of the first pieces of business to complete regards Destro, the player who scored 12 Serie A goals for Siena this term.
“There are a number of sides, foreign ones too, who are interested in him,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.
“But they’ll also have to talk to Siena as they have an option to sign a half-share in him. I’ll ask them to not take up that option, but we’ll see.
“Where could he go? I’ve always had a preference for Inter because we’ve done a load of deals with them, but you have to take into consideration what the player wants.
“Roma have made an important offer, Juventus are interested but not as much as Inter.”
Genoa also reportedly made a bid for Pescara and Italian Under-21 star Verratti this week, before they had a change of mind.
“Inter and I wanted to sign him and then leave him at Pescara, but I wasn’t convinced of the idea of buying him and then leaving him to an opponent.”
Conversation then turned to Chievo centre-back Francesco Acerbi – a player, co-owned between both sides, who has spoken of his desire to join Milan.
“I’ve advised Acerbi to be a bit more cautious before he speaks. We’re talking to Chievo. There was a deal with Milan, but we’ll speak about it at the right moment.”
Speculation this week suggested that French side Monaco were keen on January signing Gilardino, a striker new Genoa CEO Pietro Lo Monaco had said was untouchable.
“Gilardino is a very important player, but we have to understand if he wants to be a part of our project,” Preziosi noted. “We’ll evaluate if we have to find him a new club.”
Preziosi, who added that co-owned Inter striker Samuele Longo would move back to Marassi in the summer, also denied some of this morning’s transfer rumours.
“We’re not interested in Maxi Lopez [Catania], Francesco Lodi [Catania] or [Milan free agent] Gianluca Zambrotta.”
