There are surprising rumours that Alessandro Nesta will sign a new contract with Milan so he can resume his partnership with Thiago Silva.
The veteran defender was one of several stars whose deals expired this summer, along with Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf, Mark Van Bommel, Pippo Inzaghi and Gianluca Zambrotta.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Milan are trying to tempt Nesta back to San Siro for one more season.
He would be reunited with Thiago Silva, who this week rejected a €47m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Because Milan turned down this proposal, the club is focused on keeping costs down and limiting incoming transfers.
Nesta had been in talks with New York Red Bulls, but the 36-year-old has not yet reached an agreement.
