New Milan defender Francesco Acerbi was ready to join a Serie B club in January, his agent has explained.
“Up until December, he never saw the field of play at Chievo,” Andrea Cattoli commented. “When January arrived we asked for a transfer.
“The player called me on a daily basis because he didn’t want to just sit on the bench. He was also ready to step down to Serie B if necessary.
“We subsequently spoke to Chievo and they assured us that he would get his chance. He was given an opportunity against Udinese, did well and played ever since.”
The 23-year-old scored one goal in 17 Serie A appearances for the Flying Donkeys in 2011-12.
Co-owned with Genoa, he was signed outright by the latter this week and yesterday joined Milan in another co-ownership [12].
