Sampdoria Coach Domenico Di Carlo has praised new signing Federico Macheda. “He is very eager and motivated to face Lazio.”
The Under-21 international joined on loan from Manchester United and made his Serie A debut last weekend.
“The victory over Roma gave us confidence and now I expect consistency,” said Di Carlo.
“Macheda is still a little behind the others in terms of match fitness, but he is very eager and motivated to face Lazio, the club where he grew up.
“He also comes from a team with a winning mentality and that is very important.”
Macheda must wait for his first start, though, as Nicola Pozzi should partner Giampaolo Pazzini.
“I said that I expected two new arrivals in January: Pozzi and Andrea Poli. They are important players with a lot of quality and now they are fit I expect a lot from them.”
This week President Riccardo Garrone publicly blasted rumours he would be axing his tactician.
“It is pleasing to hear he has faith in me,” replied Di Carlo. “I am utterly convinced of the work I do and must continue to give my best so Samp can soar.”
