Italy Under-21 boss Ciro Ferrara and Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola have joined Marco Giampaolo on Sampdoria’s coaching shortlist.
The port club are expected to show Giuseppe Iachini the door – despite promotion – after openly holding talks with Rafael Benitez about the job.
The Spaniard, however, turned down the Marassi outfit’s three-year contract proposal which would have been worth €2m a season.
Former Ascoli tactician Giampaolo was then immediately linked, but Ferrara and Zola have now become possibilities.
Ferrara, who has a brief coaching past at Juventus, was also linked with the Pescara job recently before they hired Giovanni Stroppa.
Zola, meanwhile, was interviewed by Lazio last season but is still looking for a role after he was sacked by West Ham in the summer of 2010.
